The Genomics High-Throughput Facility is seeking a highly qualified candidate to lead emergent and state of the art genomic technologies. This position supports investigators across the University of California Irvine with specific attention given to improving the understanding of genetic and epigenetic inheritance, developmental, and pathological patterns of gene expression.
The Project Scientist will independently focus on: (1) developing technologies within the field of high-throughput genomics (2) identifying disease linked genomic variants and gene expression changes (3) formulating new approaches and novel technologies in the area of genomics and (4) presenting research materials in written, graphic, and oral formats.
The ideal candidate demonstrates computational expertise, is capable of advanced data analysis and programming (R, Python or Perl), and is proficient in a biochemistry/molecular biology wet lab. The successful candidate will have interdisciplinary skills, understands instrument maintenance and supply chain oversight, has experience with genetic data and is comfortable as a leader and team player. A Doctorate degree or equivalent is required.
