CIRCLE (Center for Innovation Research and Competence in the Learning Economy) is a cross-disciplinary research center that spans several faculties at Lund University. CIRCLE was established by Lund University Rector 2004. Since 2018, the center is part of the Department of Design Sciences at LTH.

CIRCLE's goal is to conduct research and contribute to basic, advanced and postgraduate education in the areas of innovation; effects of research and development (R&D) and innovation on growth; studies of regional, national and technological innovation systems; sustainability and public policy in the field of innovation; research and skills.

The service refers to a lecturer in innovation studies focusing on the experimentally organized economy.

Special Subject Description
Sustainable economic development and growth is largely a matter of experimentation with the aim of developing new sources of value creation, ie. innovation. Innovative and entrepreneurial experimentation often leads to new combinations and changed business ideas, technologies and organizational solutions within the framework of the experimentally organized economy. A better understanding of the underlying principles according to which the experimentally organized economy works can contribute to both financial decision-making and better policy. The latter, in turn, contributes to more well-developed regulations and a well-functioning institutional infrastructure. "Entrepreneurial experimentation" increases both technological experimentation and market and policy experimentation within the economic system.

The tasks include: 
• Research in the subject area. 
• Teaching at the undergraduate, advanced and postgraduate levels. 
• Supervision of thesis and doctoral students. 
• Work to seek external research funding. 
• Collaboration with industry and society. 
• Administration linked to the tasks above.

In order to ensure excellence in research, the ambition is that staff at CIRCLE should primarily focus on research. 50% of the time is dedicated to conducting research funded by research projects at CIRCLE. The remaining time is expected to finance the employee through his own external research grants and / or through teaching - in Swedish or English - at CIRCLE or other parts of Lund University.


Qualification to be employed as a senior lecturer is the one who has: 
• Graduated doctoral degree or other equivalent scientific competence or any other professional skill of significance with regard to the subject's subject content and the tasks that must be included in the employment. 
• Showed pedagogical skills. 
• Five weeks of higher education education or otherwise obtained corresponding knowledge, if there are no special reasons.

Other requirements: 
• Very good knowledge of English, in speech and writing. 
• Core competence in the area of innovation 
studies • Ability to attract external research grants.

Assessment Criteria
When assessing the applicants, special emphasis will be placed on scientific and pedagogical skills, with the greatest emphasis on scientific skills.

Since the research will be conducted at CIRCLE, which is an interdisciplinary research environment, experience of interdisciplinary work is considered merit.

When hiring as a senior lecturer, the following shall form the basis for assessment: 
• Good national and international level as a researcher, where the requirement for international merit is to be assessed with regard to the subject's character and tradition. 
• Demonstrated ability to publish in leading international journals 
• Good pedagogical ability, which means good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other pedagogical activities at different levels and with varying teaching methods. 
• Ability to participate in supervision of doctoral students in doctoral studies. 
• Ability to interact with the surrounding community and to inform about their activities. 
• Ability to otherwise lead and develop activities.

Other qualifications:

Demonstrated skill / experience of academic qualifications in research on innovation / innovation systems / innovation policy, entrepreneurship / SME and / or research on organization, economy and policy in relation to R&D. It is particularly advantageous to have competence and interest in more than one of these sub-areas.

Consideration will also be given to good co-operation ability, drive and independence, and how the applicant, through his / her experience and competence, is supposed to supplement and strengthen ongoing research, basic education and innovation within the institution and contribute to its future development.
