The Department of Clinical Neuroscience focuses on clinical and translational research in neurology, including:
Disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves
Development of improved diagnostic methods and therapies
Close collaboration with clinical practice at Sahlgrenska University Hospital
The position is designed to allow the candidate to establish an independent neurological research group while gaining qualifications for promotion to Senior Lecturer.
Conduct research in neurology with clinical and translational focus
Establish a research group and actively apply for external funding
Develop national and international research collaborations
Support colleagues in obtaining research grants
Teach at undergraduate, advanced, and specialist levels, including:
Neurology in the medical program
Neuroanatomy and clinical neuroscience in allied health programs (speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, specialist nursing)
Supervise doctoral and degree students
Some clinical duties aligned with the appointee’s professional competence
Administrative duties related to research and teaching
Pedagogical training is required within one year if not already completed. Swedish language proficiency (B2 level) is required for promotion.
PhD or equivalent research expertise in neurology, clinical neuroscience, or related field
Medical degree and medical license
Demonstrated clinical competence in neurology
Primary consideration for PhDs awarded within 7 years; exceptions for special circumstances
Ability to teach in English
Postdoctoral experience at a different institution is a merit
Scientific Expertise (Primary Weight):
Ability to conduct independent research in neurology
Peer-reviewed publications prioritized for quality over quantity
Track record in obtaining external research funding
Pedagogical Expertise:
Teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels
Documented pedagogical skills and course development
Clinical Expertise:
Documented clinical experience in neurology is emphasized
Administrative & Collaborative Skills:
Academic leadership and cooperation within academia and society
Personal Merit:
Postdoctoral experience at a different institution is considered an advantage
