The University of Gothenburg invites applications for an Associate Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Medical Radiation Physics (Medical Physics). The role is a career-development position intended to provide independence in research and teaching, with opportunities to build qualifications for promotion to Senior Lecturer.
The department conducts research and education in fundamental radiation physics and medical applications of radiation, including nuclear medicine, radiology (X-ray, CT, MRI), radiation therapy, radiochemistry, environmental radiology, and radiation protection.
Conduct research in medical radiation physics (≥50% of working hours).
Apply for external funding to establish an independent research program.
Develop national and international collaborations.
Teach and administer courses primarily within the Medical Physics program at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels.
Supervise students and doctoral candidates.
Complete higher education pedagogical training within one year if not already qualified.
Develop proficiency in Swedish (B2 level) prior to promotion.
Required Qualifications:
PhD in medical radiation physics or equivalent expertise.
Degree in medical physics or equivalent.
Ability to teach in English.
Primary consideration given to candidates with PhD or equivalent within 7 years of the application deadline; exceptions may be made for parental leave, sick leave, or similar circumstances.
Merits:
Postdoctoral experience outside the PhD institution is advantageous.
Scientific skills – Ability to conduct research, peer-reviewed publications, and success in obtaining research funding.
Pedagogical skills – Ability to teach and supervise at all levels; documented teaching competence.
Administrative and collaboration skills – Leadership, teamwork, and engagement with the academic community and society.
