Title:  UW Faculty Teaching Associate, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Position Overview:  We are seeking a highly reliable and flexible Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment for our Acute Care Heart Failure –Transplant Service. Anticipated start date is February 1, 2021.

Position Details:  Full-time (100% FTE), Inpatient Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C), 7 day/week coverage, 12-hour shifts. UW Montlake Campus, One-year, 12-month appointment, renewable annually

Reporting Structure:  Acute Care Lead APP, Associate Medical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Subsection, Cardiology Senior Lead APP, Service Director of Cardiology

Position Description 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with an inter-professional team including APPs, cardiologists, fellows and residents to provide high quality and safe, patient- and family-centered care in a premier institution
  • Provide a full spectrum of independent as well as collaborative care to adult Cardiology (predominately heart failure and heart transplant) patients in the inpatient setting
  • Collaborate with inpatient consultants 
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and process improvement activities
  • Participate in and support the Division’s education, research and quality initiatives
  • Provide education and mentorship to fellow team members, staff, residents, fellows, nurses and students alike
  • Attend weekly Cardiology Grand Rounds and clinical case conferences and quarterly faculty meetings
  • Be well versed in UWMC CPOE/EPIC
  • Follow UWMC Professional Behavior Policy and Procedures
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Graduate Degree from and accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program, or foreign equivalent  
  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C 
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA with DEA 
  • Highly reliable, flexible provider with proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of cardiology patients 
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written
  • Basic computer knowledge and command of basic personal computer skills 

Ideal Qualifications: 

  • Training and experience in inpatient cardiology and/or critical care management 
  • ACLS Certification
