Job Summary
  • Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist, full-time (12-month), tenure track Assistant/Associate professor in the Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. CPB has 38 faculty members with expertise and research interests in microbiology, virology, immunology, toxicology, parasitology, pathology, public health, epidemiology, human-animal bond, and animal welfare science.

Experience
  • DVM (or equivalent degree), and a board certification (or eligibility) by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP, ECVP). A Ph.D. in a related field is required. Experience with, knowledge of, and demonstrated commitment to comparative and investigative pathology is required. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; and demonstrated collegiality/ability to work with colleagues, co-workers, and staff.

Responsiblities:
  • Research – The successful candidate will join our team of experimental pathologists and is expected to engage in independent or collaborative research with investigators at Purdue University and other universities and industries. These activities should lead to extramural research grants and peer-reviewed research publications.
  • Teaching – Candidate will fulfill teaching assignments in the DVM, veterinary nursing or graduate programs.
  • Diagnostic Service – Opportunities to perform diagnostic necropsies and histopathologic examinations exist, but will not be the primary expectation of the position.
  • Academic service is expected to include, but not limited to, departmental, college and university committees; professional organizations; and editorial or grant review panels.

Education

DVM (or equivalent degree), and a board certification (or eligibility) by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP, ECVP). A Ph.D. in a related field is required.
