Job Description

The Department of Sociology announces the opening of a position for a full professor of Sociology to teach quantitative data analysis methods and social statistics. 

  • The successful candidate will be required to: 
  • Teach classes in the fields of quantitative methods and social statistics;
  • Teach sociology at undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Oversee graduate students;
  • Conduct research in one of the major fields of sociology, including quantitative methodology.

The successful candidate will join Université Laval as a full professor from the start date of their employment.

 

  • Hold a completed PhD in sociology or in a relevant discipline by January 5, 2026;
  • Having completed undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate studies in sociology will be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in teaching quantitative methods, social statistics, and sociology at the three graduate levels;
  • Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset;
  • In keeping with the needs of the Department, the applicant must be prepared to teach the course Introduction to Introduction aux méthodes quantitatives en sociologie, which is taught in French, starting in the Fall 2026 semester or upon hiring;
  • Demonstrate a robust track record of published work and completed research projects.

The successful candidate will be employed by Université Laval, where undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate teaching activities are conducted in French.

 

Conditions
Compensation in accordance with the current collective agreement.
