The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Leadership at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commencing on either July 1st, 2020 or January 1st, 2021.


Title of position:

One position in Leadership at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.



Tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Experienced scholars with a demonstrated track record may be considered for a professorship and/or a privately funded chair. Candidates at the rank of Assistant will be considered should candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor not be found.



  • Teaching activities: The candidate should be interested and able to teach leadership and general management at the undergraduate, professional (MBA/EMBA/Executive), master’s (MSc) and/or Ph.D levels, and engage in supervision of graduate students. Practical experience in professional leadership development may be considered an asset for teaching purposes;
  • Scholarly activities: The candidate should have a track record of publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals; has a track record of submitting research proposals to external granting agencies (success in receiving funds preferable); has a promising research program aligned with the School's goal of publishing in internationally respected journals.
  • Academic service activities.


  • Education: Ph.D. in Strategy, Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, or related discipline.
  • Language: English and/or French. The ability to teach in both official languages is considered an asset
  • Work experience:
    • A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in Financial Times 50 journals as well as other quality peer-reviewed journals in the area of Leadership and Management; Applicants are also expected to be able to demonstrate a track record of success in attracting competitive research funding;
    • Strong teaching competency at the undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, MSc and/or Ph.D. levels as demonstrated by past teaching evaluations. A capacity for both research-oriented and practitioner-oriented teaching is desirable. Experience in graduate student supervision is an asset, and applicants with the desire and/or evidence of strong teaching ability at the Executive Level will be given priority.

Salary and Benefits Package:

Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience where Associate Professor salaries typically range between $140,000 and  $160,000 per year and Full Professors between $160,000 and $190,000 per year.  Professorships and Chairs can carry additional stipends, a reduced teaching load and/or research funds. The University of Ottawa provides a complete and generous compensation package which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a University of Ottawa defined benefits pension plan, optional life insurance and funds for reimbursement of eligible moving expenses. The School also offers a start-up period with a reduced teaching load and start-up funding for research.

The Telfer School of Management has obtained accreditation from all three major international sanctioning bodies: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. The school comprises more than 90 full-time faculty members and approximately 4,200 students enrolled in our undergraduate and graduate programs.
