in the field of "Microwave and Opto-elec­tron­ics".

Work­ing field:

The sci­entific scope of the pos­i­tion is a hol­istic and trans-dis­cip­lin­ary approach to III-V com­pound semi­con­ductor tech­no­logy, from mater­ial to applic­a­tions, with focus on microwave and mil­li­metre-wave elec­tron­ics, opto-elec­tron­ics, and quantum tech­no­lo­gies.
Linked to the pro­fess­or­ship is the pos­i­tion as Head of the Ferdin­and-Braun-Insti­tut (FBH), Leib­niz-Insti­tut für Höch­st­fre­quen­z­tech­nik, which com­prises the sci­entific, tech­nical and entre­pren­eur­ial lead­er­ship and the respons­ib­il­ity for the future devel­op­ment of FBH within the Leib­niz-Gemeinsch­aft.
The pos­i­tion requires close co-oper­a­tion with other TU chairs in elec­trical engin­eer­ing and phys­ics and with the other Ber­lin uni­versit­ies, par­tic­u­larly, Hum­boldt Uni­versität zu Ber­lin, as well as with national and inter­na­tional research and indus­trial part­ners.


Can­did­ates should ful­fil the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing
  • a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD),
  • post-doc­toral teach­ing (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tion achieved at a uni­versity, research insti­tute, or in industry, and
  • didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242) .
We expect a per­son with inter­na­tional repu­ta­tion and pro­found know­ledge and pub­lic­a­tions in at least one of the above-men­tioned fields, par­tic­u­larly in high-fre­quency elec­tron­ics or GaAs- and GaN-based opto-elec­tron­ics. She/he should offer
  • long-stand­ing exper­i­ence as leader of large, inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research groups
  • exper­i­ence in stra­tegic plan­ning, acquis­i­tion of major national and inter­na­tional research and devel­op­ment pro­jects
  • com­pet­ence in tech­no­logy trans­fer.
Applic­ants are reques­ted to sub­mit a first concept of the research and teach­ing activ­it­ies envis­aged with their applic­a­tion.
The will­ing­ness to offer teach­ing in Ger­man as well as in Eng­lish lan­guage is also a pre­requis­ite. Very good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are required. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
