Representation of the Department of Experimental Molecular Biophysics in Research and Teaching

Further Requirements:
• excellent research activities in the field of experimental molecular biophysics, if possible also internationally 

• experience in the development of experimental methods, eg for the analysis of the structure and function of proteins 
• university teaching experience in conducting physics courses at bachelor and master level, preferably also internationally 
• Experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects

Expectations for the future activity:

In addition to the professional duties resulting from § 99 BerlHG in particular, the following activities are expected of the person appointed: 
• Independent management of a working group that deals with the issues of experimental molecular biophysics. 
• Collaboration in collaborative projects of Freie Universität Berlin (eg Focus Area Nanoscale, Sfb 1078 "Protein function by protonation dynamics") and in the research environment in Berlin. 
• Consideration of gender and diversity aspects in teaching and research 
• Appropriation of possibly missing knowledge of the German language

The recruitment of the person to be employed as a temporary civil servant is intended for a period of initially five years. The temporary university professorship is associated with the commitment that, following this, the appointment to the indefinite university professorship will be made without a renewed invitation to tender, provided that the candidate has successfully completed the tenure evaluation. For this purpose, benefits are agreed when filling the temporary university professorship, the fulfillment of which is reviewed in the course of the evaluation procedure ( § 102 c BerlHG ).

The performance requirements to be agreed will in principle relate to the following areas: 
• Research 
• Teaching 
• Promotion of young academics 
• Academic self-management 
• Personnel management 
• Language skills

In addition, at the time of appointment to the permanent university professorship, the general conditions of employment must be met.

Incidentally, for applicants who have completed their doctoral studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and / or work full-time at the Freie Universität Berlin, the provisions of § 102c, para. 3 in conjunction with para. 7 BerlHG apply.
