Job Overview

The Department of History of Drexel University announces a one-year position at the rank of visiting assistant professor (non-tenure track) in the area of Anthropocene and/or Disaster Studies. The start date is September 1, 2019, and the successful candidate must have a Ph.D. by that date. 

A history background is essential, but the committee will also consider scholars working in creative and new methods, including but not limited to public history and archives, film, audio, and visual arts, environmental education, and environmental humanities.



Ph.D requirements to be completed by September 1, 2019.


Essential Functions

The visiting assistant professor will work closely with History faculty in activities related to the department's expanding portfolio of Anthropocene and Disaster Studies research and teaching. Research and travel funds will be made available to support the visiting assistant professor's research. 

Teaching is an expectation of the position, including one course in the visiting assistant professor's area of specialization, one team-taught course in Anthropocene and/or Disaster Studies and two other courses in the history of science, technology, and the environment and/or global history.
